A Christmas Call

At Christmas time, a season bright,
We measure worth by gift and sight.
“Who does better? Who has more?”
We tally riches, we keep the score.

Whispers planted by corporate greed,
To shape our wants, not fill our need.
But pause, step back, and truly see,
A deeper call for empathy.

Who is watching, really looking?
Who asks, “How can I ease the aching?”
Use your heart, your sharpest sight,
To find the hidden cries tonight.

A paw that shakes, a weary gaze,
A soul forgotten in holiday haze.
Step forth, be kind, extend your hand,
Help the voiceless, take a stand.

This Christmas, let compassion lead,
Beyond the bounds of want and need.
For in the giving, love will grow,
A brighter world for those we know.
