It finally happened! What an absolutely fantastic day it turned out to be.
On Sunday, January 28th, 2024, we hosted our inaugural open day, marking the beginning of an exciting journey ahead.
It was a delightful mishmash of a trainer and breed specific open day, coupled with a social event aimed at getting to know each other better. It felt like a reunion of old “new” friends meeting for the first time in a while, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for all involved.
We were truly blessed by the weather, starting off with a crisp but sunny morning that gradually warmed up, allowing us to proudly sport our newly purchased MADUK Rescue Hoodies and Wufflers. A big thank you to Nicola for organizing this, and another shout out to Orca Embroidery for their swift and efficient service in getting them ready just in time for our big day.
We exchanged teas, greetings, and lively chats with new faces, who were previously only familiar through Messenger chats or WhatsApp pictures. It was a delightful opportunity to connect in person and share stories. It was a day basking in the winter sun, meeting some wonderful dogs whose owners had poured their hearts into training them. Others came along, hopeful, with dogs struggling, after seeing the day advertised, seeking to save their beloved pets. There were even tears of astonishment and relief shed, witnessing SymmetryK9’s remarkable ability to understand and assist with dogs’ behavioural issues means positive developments are on the horizon.
We had a small pet items sale stall, and we were delighted to receive some much-appreciated donations. Also in place was a showcase of fantastic card art by Nicola Ottley. A big thank you to those generous individuals! It was also the public debut of Xena and Billy. Billy showcased his Malinois muscle, and we’re keeping our fingers crossed for Xena, hoping she’ll soon have her own happily-ever-after tale to share.
Mel was kept on her toes, and let me tell you, those few hours flew by in a whirlwind! We managed to squeeze in a few moments to catch our breath and quench our thirsts, but with all the dogs and their owners being incredibly responsible and well-behaved, the day was a blast.
A big warm pawsome thank you to everyone who attended and contributed.
Get ready for an exciting event in the warmer months – a dog show will be on the horizon! Keep your eyes peeled for more details to come.
